Sunday Treats

Last week was something of a shocker. The Cold was doing its rounds again. I actually think getting sick three times in one winter was something of a record for me. But once the weekend came and halfway through Saturday things were starting to be on the up and up.
Saturday I took my eldest and husband to a roller skating rink and had a fun afternoon of it.
Then on Sunday the whole family was invited out to a BBQ lunch. My favourite piece was the basil pesto pasta - something I want to recreate further down the track. For dessert there was a death-by-toblerone cheesecake, topped with whipped cream. It was supremely delicious and would have satisfied even Marie Antoinette. Of course I couldn't get through it, partly because I was still digesting the steak and pasta. We didn't even get to try the custard tarts - that's just how full every one was.

Mudpies & Pat-a-Cakes

When you think of mudpies your mind is immediately drawn back to happy childhood days filled with fun and imagination. Well, that is what happens when I see the cakes that are made by a Victorian based specialist cake maker "Mudpies and Pat-a-Cakes". I swear these cakes look so delicious that you feel compelled to organise an Un-Birthday just for an excuse to eat one of these cakes.
"Mudpies and Pat-a-Cakes" will cater to a wide variety of functions from private to corporate, birthday to wedding, or whatever your theme is. Plus this cake maker will go to especial detail to create the cake of your dreams..
If you are living in Melbourne and are wanting an extra special cake for that extra special person in your life I highly recommend you check this cake maker out. You can visit their website at www.mudpiecakes.com.au .
Following are some incredible examples of the cake art coming from "Mudpies and Pat-a-Cakes".  Now go on, make yourself a cup of tea, check them out at the above website and plan your next party around one of these cakes.

So who's up for a bit of cake?

Melissa's Happy Place

I made this - Cappucino Cake - Mmmmm!
Things I like...
  • taking a shower in the dim light of twilight [and no electric lights on].
  • sniffing a chai tea bag before it is used.
  • eating chocolate.
  • eating lots more chocolate.
  • discovering that it's not so difficult to bake a layered cappucino cake.
  • discovering that it doesn't take long to eat said layered cappucino cake.
  • planning for the future.
  • hearing my daughters happy sounds and laughter.
  • spring cleaning.
  • having moments of creativity.
  • singing - loud and proud and way out of tune.
Artists and artwork that I admire...

Friday Release

Thank god it’s Friday! You know, I have yet to watch that film, though it is a phrase I have thrown around for many years. I use to flick through my Dad’s vinyl collection and I loved looking at the funny cover art for that movie soundtrack. I want to see that film if for nothing else than to watch Donna Summer perform.
I am so looking forward to the weekend and just relaxing with my husband and daughter. Only have one week to go with the pregnancy, so anything can happen now.
Crumble Cake
I have such a hankering for something sweet to eat. Might even try baking a cake this weekend. This crumble cake looks promising.
Right, well I'm off now to read a little. I am now on to Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince.
