Journalling

Journal page by Melissa Gaggiano.
Sometimes when my creativity is stumped I find it helps to unjumble my thoughts by writing it all out. The words may not always make sense, but the act of the journal brain dump is just one step toward bringing a sense of order to oneself. This is especially when you can't figure out your next move.

Iacta Alea Est Sweetie

If you are anything like me you are a die in the cast Dr Who fan. And have no doubt enjoyed the rescusitated series of Dr Who in the previous few years.
River Song is one of my most favourite companions for The Doctor. I mean if I were to express the awesomeness of this character we would be here all day.
One or River's accessories which captured my attention in the very first episode that we ever see of her, was her TARDIS journal. It had an old, used, homemade aesthetic about it. I knew as soon as I saw that book I wanted it.
As luck would have it BBC have provided a DIY tutorial so that you too can have your very own TARDIS journal. Just in case The Doctor himself comes crashing through your door tomorrow declaring that he needs your help to save the universe from total and near irrepairable destruction.

P.S. I learnt that'iacta alea est' is Latin for 'die in the cast'.

Outlets

Artistic people have more than one outlet for their creativity. I for one dabble with writing and drawing as a means to develop my ideas. Or a combination of the above. I keep a variety of journals at any one time. I have an art journal and two different writing journals. I keep a digital journal. And when the words don't come to me I apply myself to a hand written journal.
I wonder why my thoughts come out so differently when I write and type.

Peek

Because I have nothing better to say, but am still in a sharing mood I thought I'd let you take a peek in one of my many, many journals...

Open Book Project

I surprised myself today, upon finding a transcript of a journal I had written in my second last year of high school. Years ago I had destroyed the original hand written journal. At the time I believed this act of destruction would have a healing affect. Most people who have gone through their teen years will agree that this period was a difficult battleground. Some people learnt from the challenges, but years later some people still feel the rawness in their emotional battle scars.
The Reach organization is hosting an awesome online event known as the Open Book Project. The aim of this project is to show today’s teenagers that adults once went through similar issues when growing up. I thought this was such a wonderful opportunity, so I contributed an entry from my journal.

You can check out my old journal entry over at… http://www.theopenbookproject.com/diaryentries
