I Opened My Mailbox

… and was pleasantly surprised.
You've Got Mail

In a time when people send emails, text message, PM, Skype, 'like', 'unlike', 'block' and ignore, it comes as a sweet surprise when I open the mailbox and find an actual… yes, an actual… letter.
It came from the winner of my recent giveaway. It really doesn't take much to make my day and a letter from overseas can pretty much do it for me. Thank you Donna!
A message that can be touched, smelt, has texture, and you know was actually written on and handled by the recipient. A physical letter is a powerful thing to hold. I happen to feel the same way about books. I've given electronic books a go, but I prefer picking up a paper book. I feel like I'm absorbing more detail off paper - the connection is stronger there, I think.

A Letter to Lucy

Are you a kindred spirit? Do you dream of living on Prince Edward Island, and strolling down The Avenue in Spring? Do you devour books written by Lucy Maud Montgomery like cupcakes? Then look no further then this — following are fantastic links relating to the creator of Anne of Green Gables and Emily of New Moon.

  1. Anne Society
  2. LM Montgomery Institute
  3. Wikipedia - Lucy Maud Montgomery
  4. LM Montgomery Research Centre
I have also happily discovered that there are a handful of her personal journals which have been made available for the public. I know now what I am putting foremost on my Xmas wish list.

My Creative Space...

Is it that part of the week already??? Wow! A whole week passed and it was barely a heart beat. So it is safe to say that my priorties of last week are still the same as this week.

I plan on making an Alice Cullen dress, and have been gathering pattern pieces that are similar so that I don't have to do the pattern making completely from scratch. You know that saying, 'not having to reinvent the wheel'.

What else has been going on this week? Good question. When your memory is bested by that of a goldfish you know that it is time to put the kettle on and prepare an Earl Grey tea. So hold on a sec while I go do that...

Ahhh! That is better. I can feel the neurons in my brain waking up. So where was I?

This week I have been watching "The Lake House" and it got me thinking about letter writing. When I was a child I enjoyed letter writing, and particularly receiving mail. And i still do, but it is a rare thing these days if you do not have a designated pen pal. I do not really know where this is all leading to, but I feel like doing some sort of letter writing project and incorporate it with my art. I'll think about this idea some more.
