I Like Flowers

I like flowers. Indeed I do. There are roses in my garden, as well as zinnias, marigolds, sweetpeas and gardenias.
This week I have been busy with the usual things that need doing around the house, as well as trying to recover from a head cold, playing with the girls, reading the Trueblood Omnibus [for the third time], and crocheting granny squares. Never a dull moment.

A True Perspective

Here is my useless piece of information for the day. I was just reviewing season 1 episode 5 of True Blood and I noticed an interesting perspective.
In the church Bill is describing a day during the civil war when an injured boy was stuck out in a field. A friend of Bill’s tried to save the boy but was shot mid rescue. Someone asks what became of the injured boy and Bill said he lived. At that point the camera cuts to Terry (foreground) and Andy Bellefleur (background).
From reading the original Sookie Stackhouse books I happen to know that the injured boy was the ancestor of the above mentioned Bellefleur cousins. And in the books Bill holds a grudge against the Bellefleur family, because of this one event.
Although the tele-series never comes right out in an obvious way to make any such connection . They still did it in this very subtle visual cue. But it would only be picked up on if the viewer has read the books, I think. So, there you have it.

I'm back, baby!

I once again have a bit more time to spare for good old blogland. The past few months I had been back at my old job after having a year of maternity leave. While I was back at work my husband took his paternity leave and staid home with Gwen. We have once again reversed the roles. Michael is back at work, and I am home with the bub.

So what is the latest in the world of moi?
I had already watched the True Blood telly series, so I decided to read the stories that started this southern sensation. I'll tell you something funny. When I first watched True Blood I though Sookie's family name was Steakhouse. It is good to see that the series is faithful to the feel of the original stories, but with just enough of a twist that their is no predictability from watching the show or reading the books.

I also watched a fun sci-fi telly series titled Warehouse 13. I highly recommend watching this show. It sort of a family fun, X Files, meets Indianna Jones, meets Buffy. And this comes as no surprise, as one of the creators of this show is the utterly brilliant Jane Espenson — writer and Co-Executive Producer of the Buffy series (All Hail Jane!).

The other week it was my SIL's Birthday, so I made her this card (and yes, she does have an appreciation for cats)…
