All in a Day's Cut

Today I was in full on paper craft mode. I cut and glued a birthday card to go with the birthday cat that I sewed up last weekend. Not a bad result, I must say...

I'm the Bat

One of my kids loves, loves, loves superheroes, and none more so than Batman. She will sometimes walk about calling herself The Bat [need I say more].
For her birthday she was given Batman Lego which she has been playing with everyday.

And because she loves her denim jacket and Batman so much I brought the two together. Tonight I stitched a handcrafted Batman logo onto the back of the denim jacket. The Bat was ever so polite and thankful.

Fairy Cat

Yesterday morning a little client asked me to make a flying cat. Out of my fabric supplies she chose purple/white stars, blue/white dots, and yellow felt. The wings were a new addition to an old cat pattern. Verdict? My little client loves her Fairy Cat.

Cat in the Bag

This weekend I have been working on yet another doll - a birthday present for someone later this week. The cat doll pattern dates back to about two years ago. The fabric used is from a more recent mermaid doll collection. Cool things happen when combining old with the new.

On a side note stock in my doll store is disappearing. There are just two Avril dolls left. As the saying goes - get 'em before they're gone.

Put the Lime in the Coconut

It had been a busy couple of days, so crafting projects were put on hold. But this morning I finally finished this piece of paper cutting.

Why is it that we dream of summer in winter, then wish for cold weather in summer?

My daughter asked me to draw a butterfly. It wasn't enough that I simply drew the butterfly. I felt compelled to make it into a paper cutting.

Great Value

© Melissa Gaggiano

I have something special for y'all. Yeah, I know, I said y'all. Incidentally I have read a lot of books, and my favourite stories are written by southerners, about southerners. So it was inevitable that some southerner lingo would become a part of my vocabulary. But I digress…

I wanted to just let you know about the great value mark downs I've made on my lovely handmade items, in store. If you've been keeping an eye on my store, now is a fantastic time to buy something special for a loved one, or yourself. I've got mermaids, country fashion dolls, and felt brooches. Check it out!

Leaves

I found these three joined leaves in a park. It was the only one of it's kind about, which I thought was strange. All the other fallen leaves were small and still brightly coloured. I took the leaves home because I was struck by the skeletal, lace like beauty. I saw it as a paper cut silhouette. I saw fairy wings. I saw a map. I saw the cosmos.
