Push That Yellow

© Melissa Gaggiano
I drew another yellow dress! It would seem I'm just going to keep drawing yellow clothes until I have an actual yellow dress in the wardrobe.

Some might think I have summer on the brain. The truth is I've been wearing dark colours for so long I feel like I'm turning into Lydia Deetz. I love Lydia but enough of the mourning colours and living in Victoria is no excuse for blending in with the buildings. It is time that I dig deep to my Queensland roots. I have decided that each piece of clothing  that wears out on me, I will replace with something bright coloured.

The Sun in Autumn

© Melissa Gaggiano
The cold season is always a welcome distraction in this house, particularly when we've been watching the weather bureau for blessed signs that the temperature is actually going to turn and drop below 25ÂșC.

Now that Autumn actually feels like a real Autumn my family relishes in eating hot homemade pies and drinking hot chocolate. During the cold seasons I also have the urge to knit scarves. This is funny because it would make more sense to knit the scarf when it is still warm. Then the scarf can be ready to be worn at the first sign of frosty Melbourne winds.

Right now I am knitting a sunny, yellow scarf from yarn left over from another craft project. I want this scarf to be super long, so in all likelihood I will be revisiting the craft store to buy a second skein.

What do you look forward to doing during the cold seasons?

Totoro Summer Dress

© Melissa Gaggiano
This Totoro summer dress has been waiting on the back burner for about a year. Finally it got made with a little help from my eldest. Technically it was her sewing project, but after a round with both the overlocker and sewing machine she gladly let me do the rest. Would you believe I got this made in one day?

Keira's Butterfly

© Melissa Gaggiano
My daughter asked me to draw a butterfly. It wasn't enough that I simply drew the butterfly. I felt compelled to make it into a paper cutting.

Large Lego World

The world just got a little larger. Lego world that is. The girls are really getting into the Lego. It is pulled out every single day. And the more the Lego comes out, the creations become much more advanced, because really, I cannot help myself and the girls love me making stuff for them. The other day I built a natural landscape for the girls complete with river, grass, trees, sand, and piers. I almost ran out of yellow and blue Lego.

A Flowery Project

It has been quite a while since I've posted here. My mind is in transition phase and to be honest I am not sure where this particular blog fits, in the grand scheme. Hence the sporadic posting of late.
In the mean time I wanted to share my latest creative output. I have been commissioned to make some handmade cards. Check out the work from that project.
