Friday Appreciation

    It's Friday! It's Friday! Happy dance for everyone!
    So what is today all about? Enjoying the warmer weather. Dreaming about pizza. Loving the awesome sunsets that come with the warmer weather. Eating lunch outdoors. Gardening. Letting the kids play in the garden. Going for walks.

Sunset Beach

    Earlier this evening I drove to Brighton just before sunset to get in some glorious photos. There were so many people enjoying the beach. There were kite surfers, people eating dinner, fishermen, other photographers plus a wedded couple.

Twilight

    Tonight I took a drive down the road for a twilight photography session...

 

 

Carnation, Lily, Lily, Rose

    I love John Singer Sargent's painting, Carnation, Lily, Lily, Rose. The representation of twilight is so accurate and natural. Of course, this was because the artist only worked on this painting for the two minutes of each day when the sun was setting. You can imagine, this painting took quite a long time to complete.
    I have a notion to one day to do a modern version of this painting but with photography. I think it is the lighting, the flowers and the use of chinese lanterns that do it for me. It is a magic piece of work.

Last Night

Yesterday it was a dreary day in Victoria. So many of us felt it seep into our bones.

Then something wonderful happened — a good omen. The sun was setting, I looked out the back door, and this is what I saw…

Check These Out

I took this photo outside my front door at Sunset. Isn't the sun magnificent behind that palm tree?

I can hardly believe how flexible my cat is. She can place her feet anywhere.

This photo is an absolute crack up. Piper, the cat, was voguing for the camera, looking serene and very model like, when just as I took the photo she got spooked by some movement.

Peri Discovers the Beauty

I have just completed the first illustration in a series of three (see above), which chronicles Peri's transition in paradise.

Peri represents the yearnings of modern civilisation 'to go native'. There are days when I romanticize the notion of getting back to basics and living on an island. Of course, if I were to do that for real, a week would pass and I would miss having my computer and a refrigerator. So I must settle for daydreaming about paradise.
