The Envelopes Opened

I am very excited today. Pip, over at Meet Me At Mike's, has opened the shop display for The Envelope Project. Amongst the many envelope offerings on hand is a selection of craft pieces that I myself put together and sent off.

Ten Things

Okay, now this is a response to Pip, over at Meet Me At Mike's

Ten Things about me:
  1. In the 80s, I earned 3 star badges for passing roller skating classes (beginners, intermediate & advanced skate tricks).
  2. I was eating ice cubes on the tail end of my pregnancy with Gwen.
  3. I have a single freckle on the underside of my LHS pinkie.
  4. Say it loud, then cast your head down with shame — I am a chocaholic (last week proved it, when I personally demolished 95% of the Easter chocolate in the house).
  5. I have a dream of running a doll & toy museum that focuses on the 80s.
  6. When I was a kid I wanted to be a Gooney.
  7. I haven't eaten Murtaba in such a long while — and I want some tonight.
  8. On and off I am attempting to teach myself to knit and crochet.
  9. I sometimes battle mild doses of obsessive compulsions.
  10. I too would like to write, or even illustrate a book.

Genevieve for Mirabel

Another Emjie production:

In response to Pip's call out for 'Softies for Mirabel', I designed a doll, named Genevieve. See below some photos of the process and the finished, final product.

My original concept sketches

A dress that wasn't used. The dress was fine, but ultimately didn't match the body.

And here are the photos of the completed Genevieve...

Now it is time for a visit to Meet Me At Mike's.

Romance Was Born

I swear my world just gets smaller and smaller.

A few months ago Pip, over at Meet Me At Mike's (if I am remembering correctly) was writing about the lovely fashion label Romance Was BornRomance Was Born has some really out there designs for an Australian label. They really seem willing to take the plunge and create their own thing, rather than imitate overseas fashion. Their latest range was inspired by good old, homemade design, and the use of crochet work is quite notable.

Fast forward to today. I am touching base with my cousins and low and behold, I discover that one cousin (Teresa) created a hat for the label Romance Was Born, which was photographed in the July Vogue fashion shoot for this very label. It just so happened that I picked up a copy of the magazine yesterday (see pictured).

Meme

I thought I would do the same survey that Pip from Meet Me At Mikes procured.

1. Were you named after anyone? I do not believe so.

2. Do you still have your tonsils? I sure do though there was a close call at age 12.

3. Would you bungee jump? Heck, No!

4. What is your favorite cereal? I am not much a cereal person, but if I had to choose it would be porridge with honey.

5. Do you untie your shoes when you take them of? Naughty, naughty girl. No, I do not. My shoes would surely last longer if I did.

6. What is your favorite ice cream? Oh, this is a toughie. How to decide! I will have to say chocolate.

7. What is the first thing you notice about people? Their face.

8. What is your least favorite thing about yourself? My indecisiveness. I think, though I'm not quite sure about this one. Maybe I'll come back to this question.

9. What's the last thing you ate? Jam on toast.

10. What are you listening to right now? Nada.

11. Last movie you watched? Taken.

12. What did you dream about last night? I do not entirely recall. But I remember there being lots of tall trees and a plaza.

13. What book are you reading? Vanity Fair by  William Makepeace Thackeray.

14. Summer or winter? I am a bit of both, though maybe swayed more toward cooler weather. It really depends on the mood I am in, and what I want to do.

15. Do you have any special talents? I am highly  imaginative.
