Fab Finds 13

We're here already? Whaaaat! Seemed like it was only yesterday that I listed my previous Fab Finds. Well how 'bout that! Let me show you the cool stuff I've found for you this week…

1. In one of those I-stumbled-across-it-on-Pinterest stories I came across We Lived Happily Ever After a website, blog and shop dedicated to design. Whether that be beautiful illustrations, sewing or home renovations. If any of these tick your box, give this one a look in.

2. While I'm on the subject of design, another graphic artist to capture my notice is Caytlyn whose site, Made by Cay, has inspired me to want to make scrapbook the journals, doing it her way.

3. And here we have a short, short tale about love lost, and a jacket found at Bashful Garter.

4. I cannot get enough of Marie Forleo [life coach extraordinaire]. This week's Q&A Tuesday, she had me in fits of laughter. Now I'm not a huge fan of Kanye West [I'm trying not to judge the dude, but he does confuse me], but Marie and Team made this wonderful video about company culture change, and applying KW quotes and songs in a positive context. Watch, smile, laugh, learn.

Fab Finds #9

Great stuff…

1. Smart Girls at the Party is an internet sensation encouraging girls and ladies to be cool in a much better, smarter way. This site is a step in the right direction for feminism. It encourages smart talk amongst the girls and breaking down the walls of stereotypes. One of the creators of this friendly site is Amy Poehler, and she will respond to questions via video feed, covering issues as dealing with people, situations and using your head. There's so much more to it, but I'll leave that for you to explore...

2. Softies for Mirabel is just round the corner and is a lovely festive season project to participate in. The aim is to make a  toy which will be matched with a child, under the wing of the Mirabel Foundation. For more information simply visit this linkThis is a project that I have participated in over the years, and this year is no exception.

3. I love sinking my teeth into a goody juicy burger. Who doesn't? Well actually now that I think about it, not everyone, but I think you understand my sentiment. So when I came across this burger via a Pinterest feed I just knew what I'd be adding to next weeks dinner plan. It is none other than a Jamie Oliver Insanity Burger recipe, excerpted from Jamie Oliver's Comfort Food.

4. Bashful Garter is now a fully operational fashion website with a cool new look-book and a shop stocking specially chosen high quality pieces from independent designers.

Bashful Garter Lookbook

Bashful Garter lookbook

Here is something I have been watching and waiting for this year. The gorgeous and one of a kind Bashful Garter lookbook [I really wish autocorrect wouldn't keep suggesting that this word be cookbook]. I am pretty excited about this and have a mental list of pieces I wish I could have. Check it out for yourself…

Fab Finds 2

So, what do we have this week? What fabulous finds have caught my eye?

First there is an up and rising fresh Australian talent in the fashion industry - Teresa Redrup. For a number of  years she has collaborated with Romance Was Born, producing hats for their fashion shows. And now she has gone all entrepreneur on us and started a site called Bashful Garter, the focus of which is Australian, fashion, designer, eco and community minded. I really could tell you more about it but I won't because the site explains itself just fine. Bashful Garter is under development, the online shop will open it's doors mid 2014, and I recommend 'watching this space'. You can also visit their Facebook page.

The next fab person I want to mention is Marie Forleo. I heard about her through Carla Coulson. Marie Forleo is a Life Coach. 'What's a Life Coach', you might wonder. Well, have you ever felt you were in a holding pattern and even though you have these great aspirations for your life, you're too scared to act. If that is you then Marie has the answers that can help you through those fears. I have only just heard of her and have just seen a handful of her videos, but boy has that helped. Plus the woman is absolutely hilarious.

I am enamoured with levitation photography. Whether it is a simple selfie of someone jumping in the air, or a complex series of photos edited into one magical image in Photoshop. So I was excited to come across this article: Secrets of the Best Levitation Shots Shared. This is a useful article as it provides informative examples of how the levitation shots were done.

Also, this week I am watching on DVD Jamie's School Dinners. Such a good watch. I am a relatively healthy eater, even so, watching JSD does make me think twice about prepackaged snacks. The truth is if we want to be sure of the nutrition in the food we are far better off preparing the meals from scratch.
