    Spring time in Australia means wearing hats and not just because of the harsh UV rays. In Spring the birds go absolutely nuts. It is baby time for the birds and the magpies are at their most antisocial best - swooping people and picking fights with others of the feathered variety.

The Delphinium Post

    Today I finally pulled my green thumb out and plant a packet delphinium seeds. It felt good to be out in the garden - I think Spring has that affect on me. Suddenly I just want to be growing new plants, or even illustrating them for that matter.

    As much as a poet cannot avoid writing about Spring. I cannot help but photograph beautiful flowers in this warmer season.

My Tribute

Practicing For Spring

    Officially it is still the cold season, but I can tell the winter is practicing, getting into shape for when Spring time clocks over. Flowers are popping up here and there. The sunlight is breaking through the chillings winds. I used to be an Autumn person. I'm a bit over feeling cold this year. So now I'm all about the warm weather.

Something in the Weather

    There must be something in the weather. We have switched to daylight saving. The days are becoming longer. And I am feeling a desire to dress more prettily and eat food consistent with the weather.
    Which is why I have begun wearing a pink feather flower in my hair and am dreaming of eating cold dinners in the evening. The kind of dinner that is made of cold ham, guinea pig salad, and a boiled egg [also cooled down].
    This time of year brings about a sense of rejuvenation - of the mind, body and the home. I think Spring is always a good time for a change of habits - it's not to hot nor cold. The perfect window of opportunity to make things happen.

My Garden

    I love my garden. I have four different rose bushes. I am thinking of bulking up the front garden with even more rose bushes. You can never have too many flowers in Spring.

The Last Gasp of Winter

Spring is upon us, but as always in Victoria, if a new season begins we still feel the chill or the heat of the previous season. And it seems that Madame Winter is determined to make her last stand in September. I am very much an Autumn/Winter person, but I got to admit it is time for a change and I welcome the sunny days with open arms.

As you can tell, I am in an up and up mood this morning. I had a nice morning with hubby and bub. I got in some knitting. Oh yeah! Plus, I discovered I was a winner of a ticket giveaway over at Meet Me At Mikes. The tickets are for the screening of Making It Handmade by Anna Brownfield. So I'll be going to see that. Woo Hoo!

The Rain in Spring

Second Stage

This is the second stage/draft of my Candy-Spring illustration. This step was basically working out the sort of colours I wanted to use.

My next step will be to go back in to clean up the lines.
