Button Surprise

    Today my eldest was surprised by a friend when she was shown a boxfull of old left over buttons from a shop. Gwen was handed a little paper bag and allowed to choose her favourite buttons. Such a wonderful treat. Kids love playing with buttons so I cannot imagine a better play thing.

    This week I am juggling. Well, no, not really, but I do have a couple of things on the boil.

• My writing [won't say much about this, keeping tight lipped, except to say that I am writing something].
• I have begun crocheting again. I am crocheting pizza as a Xmas gift. It had been a while since I last crocheted and I had never made a triangle so it took me many tried before I got the hang of the instructions. Did I say instructions? Indeed I did. I am following a pattern from a crochet food book called Tasty Crochet [written by Rose Langlitz].
• I have been procastinating on doing the grey card test for my photography course, but it must be done. Soooooooo... fingers crossed if the weather is good this weekend I'll be giving that a go. 

We All Scream For Ice Cream

    Wow! That didn't take very long to do. Last week I mentioned a food crochet project that I would begin [as per this link]. It was an ice cream cone for my daughter.
    I began the crochet work on Friday and finished the thing just last night. Then leaving the toy on Gwen's little table it was the first thing she noticed when she got out of bed this morning. She immediately picked it up and exclaimed “ice cream cone”.
    I have seen Gwen pretend to lick the ice cream. So thankfully the toy version appears to cure her desire for the real thing.

My Creative Space

    Or, otherwise known as the ice cream entry.

    My daughter's latest obsession has been ice cream. Which is funny considering her limited exposure to any form of candy. So this morning my husband suggested I crochet an ice cream cone for Gwen to play with.
    Gwen and I just returned from the wool and knitting shop with a 4 mm crochet hook and 4 different yarns to produce the below pictured ice cream cone.
    If it is not too difficult I might even try making two ice cream cones.
    Mmmm! All this talk about ice cream and now I just want to eat a cornetto.

Not So Complicated Today

Usually my mind gets a bit lost and frantic between art/craft projects. And I started to feel that way this weekend. But today I am not going to stress about it — just try to enjoy the moment. Which then led me to start writing just a little bit.


We are about to enter February, and Melbourne is forecast for a 39° day. Ouch! Feel the burn. So indoors it is for today. And should I decide to do any washing it will at least dry outside in two seconds flat. The cat has the right idea…

I have a couple of things to look forward to. Over the weekend I ordered two fabulous craft books:

• Tasty Crochet — Rose Langlitz
• Yummi ‘Gurumi — Christian Hayden & Mariarosa Sala

I am hoping to crochet some food treats to go with my daughter's little tea set. It will make her tea parties extra special.

Speaking of crafting food. I was also thinking of making a felt sandwich, as per a tutorial that Myrtle & Eunice prepared a while ago.
