Tiny Heart & Selfie Doll

© Melissa Gaggiano
I have been busy making this felt heart turtle. I haven't made one of my turtles in quite a while so it was a challenge remembering the process. The turtle is intended as a birthday present for later in the week. The turtle comes with a cardboard box. The way I made the box reminds me of old school travel trunks that were made of leather and metal.

Ann-nnnd, in other things! My youngest has been disappointed to hear that a friend will be leaving for another school. She decided to make a farewell gift for her friend. She painted a doll version of herself. The pattern is a scaled version of the daddy doll project that she painted several weeks ago.

Celebrating One Year Of

It has been an epic year of writing, designing, crafting and photography for me. I have worn all these hats in creating my published work. No small feat for a small body such as myself. I am proud of my body of work, and so I should.

My work has developed so quickly during this time, and I hope that what I've created leads to more opportunities to create. Here's to the next twelve months.

Thank you My Poppet and Handmade for taking me on.

Feltie Foodie

© Melissa Gaggiano
I have been working on a small project the past two weeks. Want to know what it was? Using felt, thread and other random materials lying around the house I recreated some of the delicious food thingies that I'd been eating. Some of it healthy and some of it, pure and simple comfort food.

Can you tell just some of the things that have been on the menu?
- Carrots
- Bacon + egg, muffin
- Popcorn
- Apple
- Chicken drumstick
- Rice paper roll

Magical Unicorn

A birthday party is coming up and the theme is Japanese cuteness – Kawaii!

I decided to hand craft a couple of presents. The birthday girl loves Pusheen, a funny little cat circulating on the internet. So I made her a felt crafted Pusheen. I didn't stop there.

I wanted to add something else to the birthday package. So yesterday afternoon I designed and made this unicorn charm (also felt craft). Isn't she lovely? Isn't she super cute? Or I should say super kawaii.
