The Letter of the Day... M

Photography by Melissa Gaggiano
Okay, so not really the letter M, though it does look it. This is actually the flames beneath the lit BBQ. We had sausages, onions and chips for dinner saturday night, and yep, it was delicious. Almost nothing like eating a BBQed dinner.

Witch Style

I absolutely love, love, love watching the Charmed television series. I cannot tell you just how many times I have watched the show. Innumerable really. I think I can safely say I know the show like the back of my hand. If there was a board game based on the show I would no doubt win every game.
I like the family/sisterly orientated themes of the episodes and some of the witchy-poo humour [I am remembering Prue Halliwell stirring a cauldron brew, murmuring to herself, "I feel like I should be cackling".
But those aren't the only things to enjoy about the show. Then there are the gorgeous glad  rags worn by these witchy women. My ultimate favourite dresser in the show is Paige Matthews [played by Rose McGowan]. My second favourite in the dress up stakes is Phoebe Halliwell [played by Alyssa Milano]
Today I am gushing and drooling over these Charmed looks as seen in season 5...

My Creative Space

This week my creative space has been all about photography. I watched a trailer for Snow White and the Huntsman, which by the way I am very excited about. So excited in fact that I went about doing a Snow White inspired photo shoot on a budget.
I wanted to do this whole thing with a girl in the snow and an apple. I didn't have real snow available so I used a white bed sheet. I didn't have a fancy princess dress, but the universe answered my call, and I discovered the perfect dress in an op-shop window.

New Shoes - Oh Yeah!

I love this song. I've gotta get this into my ipod so I can bounce down the street to this beat.

Journey Into Yesterday, Part 2

A continuation to blog entry Journey Into Yesterday, Part 1...

Lovely Kate from Circa Vintage.
We had a nice little dialogue about the vintage clothes and hair style.

When I was a teenager this building housed Minotaur, a comic book shop.
The ground floor is a Cotton On store, but you can see the upstairs windows
are still decorated with the poster art from Minotaur days.

A horse and carriage ride - something for the romantics and tourists.

Retrostar Vintage Clothing housed at Nicholas Building.
I could not believe just how much stock they had.
It was truly a clothing smorgasbord.

One of Melbourne's special alley ways. It reminds me of Diagon Alley from Harry Potter.

I bought Owl Know How from Outre.
Outre is such an inspirational gallery, supporting incredible artists.

I bought these hilarious cards at Circa Vintage.

Journey Into Yesterday, Part 1

Yesterday I took the train into the city and went on a vintage and art journey. I visited a whole bunch of colourful vintage stores such as Circa Vintage and Retrostar. It was incredible. Who would have thought history was so colourful.
I then finished my journey with a long awaited visit to Outre Gallery. I hadn't been to Outre in so many years [my most favourite gallery] - I loved it and came away with a cute Australian made book called Owl Know How.
Just stepped off the train at Spring Street

So sad! The Job Warehouse fabric shop is closing after 60 years. It is said that
"When the world runs out of fabric, Job Warehouse will still have fabric".
That will, of course, change after 29th June.

One of the entrance gates to Melbourne's Chinatown.

I love Melbourne's terrace houses. This architecture is a part of
what makes Melbourne special.

One of the vintage/vintage inspired boutiques lining Gertrude Street.

More photos to come in Journey Into Yesterday, Part 2.

Oh My! That Dress

Carla Coulson put me onto a fantastic photographer known as Sharyn Cairns. She can create wonderful atmosphere in her photos. But the other thing to capture my attention in one of her photos is this white and red flowery dress. Oh how I would love to wear that dress...

What's A Bug To Do To Get Some Sleep Around Here

Yesterday whilst doing some gardening this little fellow popped his head out of his home to find out who was making all that racket.
