My Ring

Photography by Melissa Gaggiano.
I am currently working through an online photography course, via The Photography Institute. This photo was taken as part of my second module assignment. I need to choose an object in the home and model it in a creative way. This here is my wedding ring, which I chose as my feature.

What Am I Up To?

No time to talk. Just so many things I want to do before I go to bed. But I did want to show you what I am working on this week. I am making an owl, following a pattern that comes with the Owl Know How picture book. The picture book was a project put together by Cat Rabbit and Isobel Knowles. I love this book. It is so sweet and my eldest loves hearing me read it to her.

My Tribute

... No! Not a reference to The Hunger Games, but this photo is certainly a tribute to the crazy cool weather that is Victoria in Spring. Should it rain or should it shine? Or should it do a bit of both?

What I Found

Today I decided to flick through some of my old art from way back in 2007/2008. I wanted to know if there'd be any significant changes in my style between then and now. My work is never the same and I think that is the one constant - my chameleon attempts to adapt and try new art styles. I remember envisioning some of my art as something to be applied to fabric. There was certainly a print pattern quality to some of my efforts.

Fashion and a Backyard

Fashion illustration by Melissa Gaggiano.
I must admit after watching an episode of The Bold and the Beautiful I am inspired. So out comes the paper and pens and away I go.

Plus a little backyard photography. The backyard is a gardeners nightmare and a photographers delight.

Proud Photographic Moments

I am so proud of my beautiful family. I will admit that my daughters are my little muses and I am continuously blown away by how much more beautiful they become each day. I take a lot of photos of the girls, always trying to capture their essence. Today I think I got it, just a little.

The Doll, She Is Finished

Okay, even I must say that was done in record time. I gave myself till the end of the week, and a day later the homemade doll is finished. Following is the progress...
The original sketch.

Oh Yeah!

I think Ferris Bueller's Day Offis super duper. And I super like this song. Have an 'oh yeah' kind of day.

A Lil Doll Making

This afternoon, my eldest wanted to do some drawing, and she invited me to draw with her. So I did a silly little sketch of a female in swimming clothes.
I thought the sketch would make a funny plush doll. So I drew up rough pattern pieces based on the illustration and I have begun sewing the doll. My aim is to only use materials that are already in my craft supply. I have already selected some buttons and have made the legs out of an old baby bib.
Watch this space and we'll see if I can get this doll finished by the end of the week, hey.

Tropical Play Dough

Photography by Melissa Gaggiano.
Tonight my eldest daughter invited me to sit with her and play with the play dough. And this is what I made - a palm tree. I just love palm trees. Don't you?!?

Self Portrait - A Literal Sitting

One thing about being the family photographer is that I hardly appear in pictures myself. So tonight I set up the tripod and took a couple of not so classy snaps of myself, using the 10 sec timer.

Candy Avenue

I am inspired by the fresh winds of Spring. It surely is still a bit cold, but I can feel warmer days pushing onward, warming my soul and sparking my imagination. Here's to Spring...

Family Skates

A saturday skate session is a great way for a family to bond. Everyone has a fun time and later that night the kids are so tired they will not argue when it is time for bed. We'll be doing this again, for sure.

Sunday Treats

Last week was something of a shocker. The Cold was doing its rounds again. I actually think getting sick three times in one winter was something of a record for me. But once the weekend came and halfway through Saturday things were starting to be on the up and up.
Saturday I took my eldest and husband to a roller skating rink and had a fun afternoon of it.
Then on Sunday the whole family was invited out to a BBQ lunch. My favourite piece was the basil pesto pasta - something I want to recreate further down the track. For dessert there was a death-by-toblerone cheesecake, topped with whipped cream. It was supremely delicious and would have satisfied even Marie Antoinette. Of course I couldn't get through it, partly because I was still digesting the steak and pasta. We didn't even get to try the custard tarts - that's just how full every one was.
